Job description
CCTV Operations Assistant Manager
Tower Hamlets is nearing the completion of a significant upgrade to its borough-wide CCTV network. This has provided the opportunity offered by this new role, to join our award winning CCTV service for an outstanding candidate to contribute to the leadership and direction of the service and maximise the benefits of all the upgraded systems.
From the City Fringe, through to the heart of the East End to the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf, Tower Hamlets is a uniquely vibrant, diverse and contrasting part of the capital – a melting pot of creativity, enterprise and cultural life that brings the best of London together in one place. It is a borough with rich diversity and cultural heritage. At the same time there are undeniable problems – linked in part to poverty and deprivation. Levels of ASB and violence are too high – with domestic abuse, drug related crime and serious youth violence a particular problem. Tackling crime and ASB is a top priority for the Council and our residents.
We have excellent relationships between the Council and Police which is absolutely essential in ensuring that all our combined resources are used as effectively as possible and so the successful candidate will work very closely with council and police colleagues. They will also provide efficient day to day supervision of an established team of operators and ensure the effective management of all CCTV records and contracts.
Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.
Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.
We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
