Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to break the cycle of homelessness which some females experience. Support Workers will support the service manager and coordinator to ensure the provision of high standards within Catherine House our new innovative 10-unit therapeutic housing scheme for women.
The women staying at the scheme will have a variety of complex and multiple needs resulting in significant histories of trauma, repetitive periods of homelessness and will have struggled to engage with other support services. Catherine House aims to help women out of homelessness using a therapeutic support model, designed to enable women to gain the skills and confidence needed to take the next steps to living independently.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate, committed, and enthusiastic about making a real and positive difference to the lives of women affected by homelessness. You will have experience of working with marginalised people with a range of support needs and have a strong understanding of female homelessness issues. You must be able to provide trauma-informed, gender specific and strength-based support and work to the Welcome ethos of low threshold and high tolerance services. Responsible to : Womens Services Manager
Rate : £22,425 gross per annum
Hours of Work : Working on a rotational shift pattern i.e., morning, evening, waking night and weekend shifts, hours average 37.5 per week including 30 minute paid break.
Holidays/Pension : 20 days per annum plus Public/Bank Holidays and Pension Scheme

Main Duties and Tasks
As part of a team of support workers you will be responsible for the daily management of Catherine House our 10 unit, 24 hour women's accommodation service ensuring the project is a nurturing therapeutic environment to best meet the needs of the women.
You will have particular responsibility for meeting the holistic needs of the women providing trauma informed, gender specific and strength-based support, which enables women to address underlying psychological and emotional issues and helps them to develop resilience and other ‘tools’ needed to successfully access and maintain independent living.

1 years experience of working with marginalised people with a range of complex support needs

Personal experience and skills that would be transferable to the post

Ability to develop needs/risk assessments and support plans and manage a case load
Able to manage challenging individuals and situations
Able to take the lead and work in partnership with other agencies
Ability to work in busy environment, have good time management skills and demonstrate ability to prioritise and make decisions under pressure
Excellent team working skills
Excellent written/verbal communication, numerical and interpersonal skills
Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft
Education/knowledge
Understand the need for confidentiality
Understanding and commitment to working within our ethos of High Tolerance, Low Threshold Services.
Understanding of issues affecting homeless women
Understand and adhere to Equality and Diversity, Health & Safety, Protection of Vulnerable Adults and Children, and other organisational policies
Basic understanding of Trauma Informed, Gender Specific and Strength Based, support and willingness to learn the skills to use these models of support in practise.
