Purpose of the Job
We are looking for a hard-working individual to join our Conservation and Housekeeping Team as a Castle Cleaner. Working in a heritage attraction with incredible history, you will maintain our high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the Castle Rooms, Exhibitions, grounds, food and beverage outlets, and amenities and help us to ensure the visitor experience is pleasant and safe. You will work with colleagues to ensure conservation works are reported, monitored and where possible maintained in-house under guidance and support.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Cleaning of all public areas including the WCs, Visitor Centre, Exhibitions, Castle Rooms, Church and food outlets
- Cleaning estate offices
- Deep cleaning and conservation works as required
- Preparing for and cleaning areas after weddings and events
- Specific tasks as required (e.g. for events)
- Empty visitor bins and pick up litter around grounds
- Observe and maintain stock/equipment levels
Other
- Playing your part in the wider Visitor Services Team, ensuring a positive and supportive working environment with colleagues
- Demonstrate awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and diversity, showing respect, consideration and sensitivity to people’s needs in all contact with customers, colleagues, other agencies and stakeholders
- Full training will be given before opening season and as and when required
Personal Specification
- Good standard of education to GCSE or equivalent level
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to providing a high degree of customer service to the public and creating a positive image of Sudeley
- Confident, outgoing, friendly and approachable
- Ability to engage visitors in conversation
- Flexibility with shifts (holiday/sickness cover etc.)
- Excellent time keeping and reliability
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Knowledge and interest of Sudeley Castle and its history is beneficial but not essential
- Own transport is essential due to location (and lack of public transport on required Sundays)
Hours, remuneration and other benefits
- Full and part-time positions available, to include Sundays
- 8:30am-4:30pm/9am-5pm on a rota basis
- £12 per hour
- Discount in Sudeley’s food and beverage outlets and gift shop during open season
