Temporary Part-Time Receptionist/Cashier, Community Centres
(anticipated for a period of up to twelve (12) months)

What You Will Get To Do

Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation Customer Service, the Receptionist/Cashier is responsible for providing customer service at the reception desk, via telephone and on-line, including:
dealing effectively with customer complaints and inquiries, explaining programs, services, policies and procedures regarding health club, fitness and aquatics services, and other facilities and programs for the Town of Whitby;
handling revenue for admissions and program registrations;
reconciling daily receipts;
promoting, receiving and processing health club memberships;
providing clerical assistance in the form of typing, filing, record keeping, etc.; and
assisting with other projects/duties as may be required.

You love to research and analyze problems: identifying, gathering and processing relevant information to determine possible solutions, evaluate them and make recommendations. What You Bring To Our Team
As the successful applicant, you must possess:
a secondary school graduation diploma;
six (6) months experience working in a customer service environment;
telephone and cash handling experience;
a demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel);
a demonstrated working knowledge of facility and recreation software ACTIVE Net is preferred;
well-developed keyboarding skills;
the ability to manage multiple phone lines and respond quickly in a busy and dynamic environment while consistently meeting deadlines; and
a valid Police criminal record check to work with the vulnerable sector.
What We Offer You
- Salary: $20.48 - $22.69 per hour (Band D)*

Union Affiliation: CUPE Part-Time
Hours: Flex hours, including days, evenings and weekends (maximum of 24 hours per week). All Receptionist/Cashiers will be scheduled for rotating shifts between the times of 5:15 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday Through Sunday, along with a weekend rotation.
