Role:
We are looking for a Carpentry Apprentice to join our ever-expanding team at Hindley Contractors. You will be working with experienced carpenters towards gaining a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification through on and off the job, trade specific training. It mixes college learning with practical on-site training and a programme that goes well beyond the standard syllabus.
Responsibilities:
- You’ll learn both on the job and work towards gaining your Level 2 NVQ in Carpentry.
- Provide support and assistance to one or more skilled carpenters including general work assisting the carpenter including site preparation and clearance, and maintaining general site tidiness and assisting as directed by the carpenter.
- Receive regular training as and when agreed in a training programme, to understand and learn the trade.
- Assist with storage, lifting, fetching supplies, unload and check deliveries.
- Receive training so that you can assist with identifying hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices and health and safety.
- Liaising with line manager and other site workers and performing jobs as and when they are required, in accordance with contract / agreed requirements and within agreed time limits.
- Undertaking tasks to assist carpenter generally.
- Undertaking relevant Health and Safety Training when required.
- Undertake any additional training associated with the specific requirements of the trade, as well as training in Diversity and Inclusion.
Requirements:
- Driving licence preferred but not essential
- GCSE’S preferred but not essential
