Job description
NON CYC VACANCY
York Carers Centre is an independent charity supporting unpaid carers in York. We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to join our friendly dedicated team, helping unpaid carers to maintain their health and wellbeing through the provision of information, advice and support.
Successful candidates will have the confidence to carryout statutory carer assessments, reviews and care plans, and facilitate co-operative ways of working with a range of health and social care professionals, ensuring carers have access to effective referral procedures to secure appropriate support. An understanding of the needs and rights of unpaid carers will be required.
This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who have a genuine interest in using their experience and skills to support others; who are able to work within the boundaries of confidentiality and can work effectively and engage sensitively with a wide range of clients, including older carers and those with specific needs, to provide a range of outreach work and one to one emotional support.
If you are empathetic and compassionate with excellent communication and engagement skills, have experience of advocating on behalf of vulnerable individuals and have knowledge of the voluntary and statutory services, then we’d love to hear from you.
The role will involve flexible/hybrid working travelling to and working from a range of outreach venues in the York area. Additional paid hours may be available from time to time.
In return we’ll offer you:
The opportunity to make a notable contribution to our work in making a difference to the lives of carers in York
A friendly supportive working environment
Generous Annual Leave
Great flexible hybrid working options
Learning and development opportunities
Contributory pension scheme
The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
