The job itself
A gentleman in his late 70s is requiring 24 hour support. The role is for 14 regular weekly hours to allow for carer breaks for live-in Carer/Personal Assistants, to be worked in 2/3 shifts/blocks, plus an Additional 2 hours per week (8 hours per month) accrued for additional support if needed to include supporting with hospital appointments/emergency cover. The days will be 2 days per week for 7 hours each day. Days to be discussed at interview.
The gentleman has suffered a head injury some time ago, which caused a stroke. He is left with right sighted weakness, speech impairment, short term memory loss and mobility problems. He will require moving and handling support with a wheelchair and applicants must be a car driver. The gentleman has his own car which can be used.
Duties include support with social activities, meal preparation, daily living tasks, personal care and support with medication.
The suitable person would need to be reliable and flexible to cover other posts during holidays, when required.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
