We are looking for a Female Carer / Care Assistant to join our lovely team of ladies caring for a young lady, aged 31 years, who has both health problems and learning difficulties. The young lady has a tracheotomy and is fed via a feeding peg.
The young lady you will be caring for has a wonderful personality and is often very happy and smiley. She has a great love of music and also likes watching Disney films.
The role is to assist the young lady mainly within the comfort of her own home. However, there is a wheelchair-carrying car that is driven by some members of staff and the young lady is taken out most days to different places. You will therefore also be required to provide care outside of her home, in the community.
The role is varied. The best way of summarising it is that you will carry out tasks that might usually be done by a relative, or a close friend. However, the way in which you would perform these duties is in a trained, professional and knowledgeable manner.
You will be aware of the personal needs and requirements of the young lady, communicating successfully, not only with her, but also with other important people in their life, such as family, friends and other healthcare workers.
The type of care that you provide will vary from day to day, but may include:
- Help with getting up and getting ready for the day or settling in for the night, washing, bathing, and toileting.
- Hoisting, moving and handling, positioning in a correct posture while sitting and in a sleep system in bed.
- Administration of medication.
- Support with with care of a tracheotomy and dealing with a feeding peg, for both of which you will receive full training, to a high standard.
- Domestic tasks such as laundry, cleaning, tidying, shopping and taking the young lady out to the shops, doctors or social events.

This position is for between 24 and 36 hours per week. The hours will be a mainly night time but with some / occasional day time shifts.
The night shifts are always 7pm to 7am. Night shifts are waking nights.
The day shifts will be a mix of 7am to 1pm, 1pm to 7pm and 7am to 7pm. For your day shifts we can offer some flexibility as to whether you prefer 6 hour or 12 hour shifts.
You will need to be flexible and willing to work a mixture of weekdays, weekends and Bank Holidays and be willing to provide some holiday and sickness cover.
You will be working alongside another experienced team member as two members of the team always undertake all of the shifts. You will be given full training, to a high standard.
We operate a STRICTLY NO SMOKING policy and you will not be able to smoke (or vape) at any time during your shift.
Unless you live very close to us (within walking distance), you will need to be a car driver with access to a car, as we are located in a rural area with very little access to public transport. We are not within walking distance of Lichfield City Centre.
The rate of pay is £11.25 per hour for all shifts

We provide all required PPE (including masks, aprons, gloves and hand-sanitiser). All surfaces are sanitised regularly. Lateral Flow Tests are undertaken by all staff prior to each of their shifts.
