Job description
Our delightful, 10-year-old client with Cerebral Palsy is looking for a kind, calm Support Worker to care for her complex needs. N loves spending time with her family and Care Team and finds great pleasure in listening to and attending weekly music therapy.
The Role: Our client has complex physical and cognitive needs arising from a brain injury acquired at birth and as such requires 24-hour care. She is non- weight bearing and a full-time wheelchair so would require hoisting for all transfers. N receives all her nutrition, fluids and medication via her PEG/JEG and would require full personal care. Being non-verbal N uses sounds, gestures and facial expressions to communicate and a great way of her expressing herself is through her sensory toys and related activities.
About You: N would love a happy, energetic young (or young at heart) person to build a relationship with. Ideally you will have experience supporting a child with an Acquired Brain Injury/CP and with hoisting and PEG/JEG feeding. However, please do still apply even if you have limited experience in these areas as full training will be provided. You will be supported by a Case Manager and the Care Team for her one-to-one care. You need to be a very calm, caring individual with a positive outlook. You will need to be reliable and willing to work with N’s Therapists, following her care plan to help her achieve her rehabilitation goals.
