Job description
Purpose of position:
A care assistant position involves providing support and assistance to individuals who may require help with their daily living activities due to illness, disability, or old age.
The care assistant position is to provide compassionate care and support to individuals who need help with tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding. Care assistants also help with household tasks, such as cleaning and laundry, and may provide companionship to individuals who are isolated or lonely.
The purpose of a care assistant position is to help individuals maintain their independence and quality of life, and to provide them with the support and care they need to live as comfortably and as fully as possible.
Principal responsibilities:
- Work to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the home and the creation of the right atmosphere.
- Assist residents who need help with washing, dressing, undressing, bathing, toilet and maintaining their personal hygiene.
- Medication administration and recording and reordering when needed.
- Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence, help in the care of aids and personal equipment.
- Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of the resident through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations
- Make and change beds, tidy rooms and do light cleaning.
- Answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone, greet visitors and offer a drink of tea or coffee.
- Read and write reports on electronic care plan
- Complete the Penhill’s residents journal on a daily basis and complete handovers on shift changes.
- Take part in staff and residents meetings and also in training activities as required.
- Control of television and radio – providing appropriate entertainment and stimulation to residents as required.
- To supervise care, when the Manager is not present.
- To be aware of all health and safety regulations and put these into practice within all areas of work at Penhill
- To be especially aware of COSHH regulations and apply these in practice
- To report any concerns relating to health and safety immediately to a manager or office in charge
- To report and suspected abuse within the home immediately to a manager or office in charge
- To regularly review and understand all of the homes policies and procedures and put these into practice in the work environment, if not understood explanation must be sought from one of the homes managers
- To participate in mandatory training as specified by the homes managers
To carry out any other duties as specified by the persons you are responsible to.
Person specification:
- Good communication skills
- Flexibility essential
- Ability to work as part of a team
- 1 year experience in the care field
- First Aid Training (preferable but not essential)
- Well motivated
NVQ Level 2/3 (preferable but training available)
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 19.5 per week
Salary: £11.00-£11.50 per hour
