Job Title: Care Assistant (Re-ablement domiciliary care)
Locations: London - Southwark, Lewisham, Lambeth, Surrey Quays, Camberwell, Dulwich, Peckham, Nunhead, Newington, Elephant and Castle, Bermondsey, Bankside, Tower Bridge, Kennington, Walworth, Peckham Rye, East Dulwich, Sydenham, Crystal Palace
Visit Areas: SE1, SE5, SE11, SE15, SE16, SE17, SE19, SE21, SE22, SE23, SE24
Pay Rate: Monday - Friday £12.00, Saturday £12.50, Sunday £13.00 per hour
Shifts available: Permanent, full time, part time, weekdays, weekends, flexi-working shifts available to suit your lifestyle requirements, 'guaranteed hours' available
Access to vehicle required: No, however a vehicle may be required for some areas due to the geographical location and nature of the role
No social care experience required as specialist training will be provided!

Being a Care Assistant is more than just a job it’s a calling. Here at MiHomecare, we have an amazing opportunity to join our friendly re-ablement team. We are looking for kind, honest and compassionate Care Assistants to join the team in providing the very best care to our service users.
You will be assisting people to regain their skills and confidence at home following a period of hospitalisation, supporting them to take charge of their lives again. If you are looking for a role that is both rewarding and fulfilling, then we need you!
Duties will include:
- To support service users in a structured way to undertake a range of social care tasks such as washing, dressing/undressing, showering and bathing, meal preparation, domestic activities, engaging in community activities, working to a graded programme to help optimise their level of ability and independence.
- In association with the therapists and Assistant Managers to deliver agreed reablement programme, including identifying assistive equipment and demonstrating the safe use of such equipment, advising on strategies for managing fatigue and pain, preventing falls, using adaptive techniques e.g. one handed or seated activities.
- To use supportive and motivational approaches to help service users identify and achieve their goal.
- To undertake a range of delegated health care tasks as required e.g. prompt prescribed medication, support the application of prescribed creams, eye and ear drops, catheter care, prompting exercises as prescribed by the physiotherapist.
- To provide written observations of the person’s circumstances, whether improvement or deterioration, to help with the progression and review of the reablement programme.

Key skills and attributes required:
- Previous re-ablement care experience is preferred, but not essential
- Caring, compassionate and a good listener
- An energetic, happy person who enjoys forming relationships with people
