Camp Manager & Counsellor
Summary
Best Exploration and Educational Camping Holidays (B.E.E.C.H), is a one-week overnight summer adventure and STEM camp for children and teens. This camp is sponsored this year by the Foundation For Black Communities (FFBC), and geared to give youth who qualify for the program, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact and connect with other children and youth. We are now looking for a few qualified, responsible , and empathetic Camp Managers and Camp Counsellors. The camp runs from July 3rd - July 7th, 2023 and will be at a campground in Niagara Falls.

Re-Imagine Ontario is a registered charity whose mission is to improve the health, education, and employment of vulnerable seniors and youth by fostering strong community support networks. Our target demographics are underserved youth and isolated, throughout the Halton-Peel area.
The Role
Are you the right fit to join our team as a B.E.E.C.H Summer Camp Support Team?
The Camp Manager & Camp Counselor will work as a part of a team to plan, organize, and implement a fun and educational summer camp program for children aged 10-15. The program is designed to provide a unique and exciting opportunity for children to learn about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts in a fun way and to engage in various outdoor adventure activities.
Responsibilities:
· Lead or Assist staff/volunteers to plan and implement daily camp activities that align with the camp's goals and mission.
· Lead or Assist campers during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
· Lead or Assist campers with their activities including setting up tents, tables, cooking areas, lighting, etc.
· Lead or Assist in planning and leading outdoor adventure activities, such as hiking, rock climbing, canoeing, and team-building exercises, , including hands-on experiments, building projects, and educational games. Actively engage in camp activities
· Lead or Assist with mealtimes, including setting up, serving, and cleaning up after meals
· Help maintain a clean and safe camp environment, including cleaning cabins or tents and common areas, monitoring campers for health issues, and enforcing camp rules and policies
· Act as a positive role model for campers, fostering a culture of respect, kindness, and inclusivity
· Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and other staff members, providing regular updates on camp activities and camper progress
· Attend all required training sessions and staff meetings.
· Lead or Assist with other on-site camp duties required each day.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Must be at least 18 years old.
· Experience working in a camp setting is preferred.
· Prior experience working with diverse children in a camp or other educational setting is preferred.
· Access to a vehicle is considered an asset.
· Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
· Enthusiasm for STEM education and outdoor adventure activities
· Ability to work long hours in a physically demanding outdoor environment.
· Valid CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
· Must pass a background and vulnerable sector search check plus reference checks**
Commitment:
· This is a seasonal position, running from late July 3rd to July 7th. The hours are Monday-Friday.
· Available onsite for the duration of camp (July 3rd-7th), including all days, evenings, and maybe some overnights at the campsite.
· You will be required to work a few days or hours in May to assist with planning for camp.
· Pay rate $23.00-25.00/hour.
