Job description
Waltham Forest CAMHS are seeking experienced HCPC registered clinical or counselling psychologists to join our emotional difficulties pathway and neurodevelopmental pathway. We have a full time fixed term post available, but can also accommodate candidates who would like to work part time in either pathway.
The post holder will be a senior clinician in the CAMHS multi-disciplinary team and will attend and participate in MDT team meetings, as well as carrying out joint work with colleagues. Our emotional pathway provides interventions for children and families with a range of moderate to severe difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, OCD and PSTD. As a senior clinician you will hold a caseload of children and families with complex needs, including supporting children on the edge of inpatient admission. Our neurodevelopmental pathway offers assessments of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and as a senior clinician you would lead assessments and contribute to team formulation of children’s difficulties. You will contribute to supervision of band 7 colleagues, psychology trainees and assistant psychologists.
The post holder will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health, education and social care professionals as we embed a trauma informed model of practice within the service. You will be passionate about ensuring the child’s voice is central to the work we do and work in partnership with families/carers and other agencies to achieve the outcomes desired by the child or young person.
COVID-19 Vaccination
We continue to encourage all staff to ensure that they have been double vaccinated and received their booster. We recognise that taking the vaccine provides the best defence against COVID 19 for our patients, our staff and their families.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,108 and a maximum payment of £5,177 per annum pro rata).
You will be part of a large and friendly psychology and allied psychological professions team who meet on a weekly basis. We are made up of clinical and counselling psychologists, CBT therapists, PBS practitioners and assistant psychologists. This is a great time to join NELFT, as we have had significant investment in senior leadership of psychological professions across the Trust and expect ongoing commitment to developing and retaining high quality staff through CPD, supervision and an annual psychological professions conference. The Trust also has various committees as part of our commitment to promoting equality and diversity (e.g. LGBTQ+, EDI, and disability, amongst others), which frequently provide free training and regular meetings. As part of our trauma-informed approach, we strongly encourage good work/life balance, compassionate and approachable leadership, and collaborative team decision-making whenever possible.
