Job description
1. Job purpose
To help ensure the effective operation of a Café in a beautiful wood in North London. To work with gardeners and community organisations to provide food and beverages as well as create a space for learning, the arts, and entertainment for the local community.
2. Principal duties and responsibilities
1. To serve food and beverages to customers including the preparation of coffee and some simple food preparation i.e., cheese toasties, reheating quiche.
2. Present all food in a timely and attractive fashion as requested.
3. Ensure food displays remain fully stocked and are clean and tidy at all times.
4. Ensure the efficient operation of the food service counter.
5. Ensure that the service adheres to all legal requirements.
6. Maintain excellent standards of customer service.
7. Positively engage with customers and aim to meet their needs.
8. Work consistently to maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and visitors’ centre in accordance with existing cleaning schedules, standards and established procedures.
9. Operate the dishwasher and use equipment in accordance with training. Always follow safe working practices.
10. Assist with stock control by checking dates when receiving goods. Put deliveries away quickly and carefully ensuring stock rotation.
11. Always minimise wastage.
12. Contribute to the wider work of the team. Promote a positive view of and connection with Queens Wood. Gain a good understanding of the work of the community garden, issues of environmental sustainability, and the importance of maintaining woodlands.
3. All staff are expected to maintain high standards of customer care paying close attention to our ethos as a community asset, this means allowing the public free use of the space for breastfeeding, baby changing, to use the toilets, or to simply have a rest.

5. The post holder is expected to have an interest in environmental sustainability demonstrated by a willingness to learn about various issues and practices. Acting locally the Manager is expected to educate about the issues facing Queens Woods whilst promoting its benefit to the community.

Part-time hours: 20-30 per week
Salary: £12.00-£12.50 per hour
