As a Civil Designer - CAD/BIM Technician you will be required to: develop, lead, and manage the production of civil design incorporating any outsourced design by Design Consultants (e.g., civils and building design) and Sub-contractors throughout the design phase of any project. This is a developmental role towards a BIM Manager position.
The Role
Key Accountabilities:
You will assist the Lead Design Engineers’ and BIM Manager with the following duties:
Key Main Responsibilities
On behalf of the project team review the Employers Information Requirements (EIR) in conjunction with the project plan, business plan and procurement plan.
You will: participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment on assigned projects and act as the key contact for the Business Unit’s key BIM technical requirements; respond to the Clients technical requirements, develop the outline BEP into a Master Information Delivery Plan (MIDP) and lead project BIM workshops. BIM design and coordination duties will include a clash detection/policing role using Revit, Civils 3D, BIM360, ReCap Pro, Dalux or other tools. Designers (Consultants and Sub-contractors) shall be responsible for their own coordination but must be managed by the Civil CAD/BIM Technician. Development of asset data (plant schedules and specialist equipment etc.) checking and compliance with Client’s EIR to ensure design compliance working with site teams using alternative approaches relating to time (4D) and commercial (5D).
Sub-contractor Design and Coordination
The specific activities involve and require review of Civil, Building and M&E information, the co-ordination of civils, building and M&E design consultants and Sub-contractors and the review and analysis of their design proposals and tenders.
Following the development of outline design and procurement the supply chain becomes integrated into the overall design process. The detailed design is established by model management supported by a design review process as outlined in the BEP.
Health, Safety & Environmental Management (Involved in a team)
- Review of the safety and quality plan and ensure it meets the highest standards ensuring compliance with the GT business management system (BMS) and health, safety and environmental (SHE) standards along with BIM activities and design development.
- Identify all existing hazards, underground services, overhead services, earthworks, confined space working and the requirement for permit control. Develop a site-specific plan to manage these issues.

- PMEICA engineering knowledge for water and wastewater treatment.
- Detailed knowledge of ISO19650, associated standards and BIM documentation.
- Detailed knowledge of Viewpoint CDE.
