Café Assistant - Lincolnshire Action Trust

HMP Lincoln LN2 4BD

Various Shifts available £9.90 per hour (applicants must be 18+ due to prison-based working)

Saturday & Sunday 0830 to 1230 – 3 hours per day

Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday/Sunday 1300 to 1630 - 3.5 hours per day

This is an exciting time for our organisation. As part of our growth plan and our continued retention of key contracts with Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) we are able to offer shifts for a Café Assistant at HMP Lincoln.

The role of the Café Assistant is to ensure that a high-quality and timely catering service is delivered to customers of Ted’s Place Café at HMP Lincoln. This will include the preparation of drinks and snacks, observation of relevant health and safety and hygiene standards, to ensure a profit to invest back into the service, cash handling and reconciliation, to support ordering of stock and the induction, training and supervision of volunteers helping within the Café. You will have previous successful experience of working in a catering environment and applying your excellent customer service/interpersonal skills. You will be able to develop strong working relationships with others. You will be able to remain calm under pressure and be able to work alone without direction. You will have a good standard of numeracy, record keeping skills, be organised and able to organise others and supervise volunteers. It is likely that you have a relevant catering qualification and/or equivalent experience and a food hygiene certificate.​

If multiple people are appointed we will be looking at staff providing cover for each other for annual leave and absence.

Lincolnshire Action Trust (LAT) is a registered charity that works with individuals who are in contact with the criminal justice system across Lincolnshire and surrounding areas. The main focus of our work is resettlement and rehabilitation including employability, accommodation, finance and debt and work with children and families. ​

Over 20,000 clients access our services each year and volunteers are a valuable element of LAT’s support for individuals involved in the criminal justice system.
