JOB HOLDER’S PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
To develop and manage the growth of BIM and CAD integration throughout the HDR corporation. In addition, the role includes the day-to-day management of the UK 2D CAD team to ensure the correct level of resource and technical input is applied to achieve project delivery objectives. The role holder will report to a nominated Group Leader for overall BIM/Revit development and individual Directors in terms of specific project delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide production Revit / CAD support and will be responsible for the introduction and implementation of any BIM with coordination with the BIM Principal.
- Assist the Regional management teams with prediction of resource levels.
- Manage and maintain CAD standards to ensure consistency of delivery across all UK offices.
- Develop, implement, and enforce standards, willing to undertake all other duties as may become necessary throughout the period of employment.
- Maintain office/ company standard drawings via content management platform.
- Manage the UK CAD team.
- Consult with Directors/ Project managers/ Lead Engineers to ensure that resources are planned and available to meet the office project delivery requirements.
- Supply technical support for all CAD software.
- Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions.
- Interact on project standards in coordination with clients.
- Third party CAD vendor management.
- Coordinate drawing issue sheets with the engineers and document control, as necessary.
- Develop and maintain ISO19650 CAD layering standards.
- Identify with the BIM Principal, personal training/ CPD requirements.
- Implement QA systems applicable to the CAD department.
- Monitor CAD contract staff or third-party appointments as appropriate.
- Identify suitable external resources to respond to peaks in workload, holiday periods etc.
- Attend relevant courses, seminars etc. that will add value and raise the profile of the business.
- Attend and contribute to project review meetings and consider ways to constantly improve CAD delivery in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
Required Qualifications
- The CAD manager should demonstrate the experience of working in a consultancy, working for a large contractor in a design capacity.
- Extension knowledge and skill of AutoCAD modelling, to provide CAD drawings and designs for both electrical, mechanical, and public health engineers within the team including outsourced workers.
- Previous experience on £40millon+ project, mainly within the Data Centre, high rise accommodation, hotel, hospital, or student accommodation.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience – Competent CAD.
- Excellent presentation skills, communication and client facing skills.
- Experience in the same or similar position is desired.
- Competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
- The ability to project a positive and professional attitude at all times.
- Educational qualifications to a degree level or extensive industry experience are required.
- Personable and a ‘can do’ attitude with resource management experience.
- Able to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and Clients.
- To be able to work as part as a team, collaboratively and co-operatively.
- Basic understanding of Revit with a platform to expand knowledge and improve 3D drawing and production skills.
