The Role


We’re looking for an organised, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Town Build Team as a Cabling Engineer. This role would suit someone who has 3 years+ experience installing network in Openreach PIA and own infrastructure within the highways / street works environment and is therefore well versed in underground and overhead working.


In addition, there will be a need to work with Project and Network planning, along with surveying, civils, and rural installation teams to see consistent progression of plans and issues from planning to completion of works.


Responsibilities


  • Read and understand technical drawing and specification sheets to install sub-duct and fibre optic cable
  • Collection of data and production of as-built information as required
  • Verifying planning phase via on the ground surveying / installation to ensure the most cost effective and unobtrusive installation can be achieved to meet the values of the company
  • Installation of overhead & underground fibre within PIA and WI own infrastructure to the required standards
  • Site survey reports (Overhead, underground and the proposal of alternative routes), including test rod and roping as required
  • Assisting Service Delivery teams across the company where necessary to support customer needs or project timescales
  • Liaising with both colleagues and customers; keeping in regular contact with office staff & team leader
  • Appropriate use of safety equipment and procedures, ensuring H&S/Highways guidelines for safe roadside / pathway working are always followed and implemented and in depth understanding and appreciation of the Street works considerations
  • Working in accordance with Health and Safety requirements for WI Employees and Customers

  • Clear and precise communication skills across a variety of deliveries
  • Work autonomously and self-motivate in an organised manner
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Relevant PIA accreditations (SA001, SA002, S7, S8) & NRSWA Signing, Lining and Guarding

Shortlisted applicants will be offered a trial day with the Cabling Team instead of a formal type interview. The successful candidates will receive full payment for this trial day in their first pay-packet.

Our offices are based in rural Dorset which does not receive regular public transport services. A company vehicle would be provided as part of this role due to the nature of the on-site working requirement.


Salary:
£27,000 - £35,800 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Required licence or certification: Driving Licence

Location: Field Based, Nr Blandford Forum, Dorset
