The Buyer will be primarily responsible for owning and delivering the Mobile strategy for sourcing & trading of refurbished handsets. The role carries direct responsibility for the commercial performance of the nascent handset-only (Sim Free) refurbished category through the delivery of market leading ranging, pricing and product development, as well as supporting the execution of the strategy through Postpay connected offers in relevant channels (eg carphonewarehouse.com, idmobile.co.uk). The refurbished handset market is a key growth opportunity that complements Currys’ ambitions in delivering sustainable hardware solutions to new and existing customers.
The Mobile Buying team has full ownership of the commercial relationships with all Currys’ handset manufacturers and operating system developers. Responsible for delivering and enabling a major part of the business's profit targets, the team owns the P&L for all trading of Sim Free handsets (New & Refurb) as well as acting as a key support function in supporting the various propositions teams with day-to-day trading through a variety of channels.
Roles & responsibilities:
- Build out the trading strategy for refurbished phones, playing the leading role in delivering the Sim Free proposition
- Collaborate with Online, Retail & Direct channels to ensure that the Refurb strategy, products and propositions are rolled out and implemented in channel in a consistent manner, for both Sim Free and Connected propositions
- Define sourcing, ranging, pricing and product development strategy, in collaboration with our Services team
- Establish relationships and support buying activity with external hardware resellers
- Support the negotiation of cost prices with external partners to enable the creation of market leading customer propositions, achieve budgeted commercial and customer targets while also growing market share
- Work with Go To Market teams to develop customer messaging, marketing & advertising campaigns, digital content and other marketing materials
- Annual budget creation and delivery to budget
- Support role within the Mobile Buying Team in delivery of Buying & Trading objectives on New, with primary ownership of multiple aspects of the strategy
Required:
