At Saint-Gobain Abrasives we are looking for an experienced Buyer to join us as we continue to grow.

In the role of Buyer, you will, Lead UK Purchasing activities, improving cost, quality, and service, and achieving competitive advantage contributing to the departments overall objectives in order to achieve the Company strategy in line with ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 & ICRF Framework.

This role can be worked on a hybrid basis with 3 days in office 2 from home.

What you will be doing:

• Establish strong working relationships with vendors of the Stafford & Staverton site, so that required delivery standards (quality, on time, in full) are achieved
• Manage UK transport providers
• Negotiation with suppliers and ensure systems (folder, purchasing tools) are updated to reflect any terms and conditions changes agreed
• Management of purchasing projects for the 2 Saint-Gobain Abrasives site (including CAPEX projects) and ensuring effective supply market research, sourcing, contracting and supplier management techniques are used
• Management and coordination of the Purchasing procedure and group purchasing best practises (ICRF compliant)

What we are looking for:

• Degree qualified or equivalent level qualification in a business-related subject
• An effective commercial negotiator with a results-based track record
• High levels of drive and enthusiasm, and the ability to work to tight deadlines and timescales
• Proven purchasing experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment operating in a strategic sourcing/ category management role
• Full driving license
