KME are an internal MEP self-delivery business within the Kier group, supporting the internal regional businesses across the UK and the Strategic Projects business on complex and challenging projects that range from £5m to £80m. The business has a full design, construct and commissioning capability. Key Responsibilities
Within the role, you will manage the Procurement resources (people and finance) of the assigned projects to maximise planned gross margin through the placement and control of material orders. To assess, review and mitigate commercial and programme risks. Implement Kier Group's policies for risk management. To check the quality of the requisitions being issued for progression to a purchase order and advise on best practices/company procedures where required. Making sure suppliers’ invoices are paid within the agreed payment terms.
You will have overview & ownership of all things that are Procurement and Supply Chain management activities across KME and work collaboratively with the project management team and Kier construction colleagues to deliver in accordance with Group, Business Stream and Business Unit standards the successful delivery of the project as defined within the project roles and responsibilities.
What do we need from you?
In order to be considered for this role, applicants will have the following skills and attributes:
- Understand and use as appropriate the use of total cost of ownership
- Knowledge and understanding of common Procurement models
- Possess strong commercial negotiation skills and experience of managing and leading a team to achieve multiple objectives
- Able to procure high risk packages and experience of managing and leading a team to procure high risk packages with no supervision.
- Excellent organisational and administration skills. Ability to organise and plan effectively in a demanding environment.
- Good interpersonal & communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the business and with external clients.
