Business Support Officer Reigate, England
Job description
The starting salary for this position is £32,173 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.
This role is open to remote working meaning you aren't required in the office 5 days a week. We’re less about you driving to work and more about us collectively driving down our carbon footprint. We care about how you work rather than where you work; the people rather than the postcode. In support of our people and our greener futures strategies, we’d welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what remote working may look like for you!
Surrey County Council is looking for passionate people to help and inspire the organisation to improve the governance and management of its data.
At Surrey, our vision is to help create better lives, a better place and a county where no-one is left behind. To help deliver this vision we are committed to transforming the way the council manages and uses data and creates insight. We’ve established a new data team to deliver our SCC Data Strategy. This is an exciting time to join us as a Business Support Officer and be part of shaping the new team and forging links across the organisation.
About the role
This is a great opportunity for a proactive and experienced administrator. You will be providing key administrative programme and project support to a friendly and engaging team who are supporting the whole organisation to improve how they manage and use data.
The role is really varied and the tasks you will be involved in will be wide ranging, from programme reporting, organising meetings and report writing to communication support and booking training. You will often be working on several tasks at any one time, so you’ll need to be comfortable working at pace and organising your time. The role will also involve engaging with the team and wider stakeholders from across the organisation so you will need to be able to build trust and rapport quickly and effectively.
About you!
We’re looking for a confident and curious team player with experience of working as a senior administrator. You should have some experience of working in a programme office or providing support to projects and will be familiar with producing and updating products such as programme highlight reports, risk logs and plans. You will also need to be comfortable taking minutes in meetings with technical content where you will identify the salient points to record.
You will be happy to work with a wide range of colleagues; managing and prioritising the different requests that may come to you. This could include straightforward requests such as organising a meeting but also more creative activities such as designing interactive virtual workshops or creating a new communications product.
With strong IT skills (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and an openness to growing those skills further through our internal training offers (e.g. Sharepoint, Teams, whiteboards/Miro/Menti) you’ll be passionate about getting things done and the quality of the work that you do!
If you’re open to learning new skills and developing new approaches, this could be the perfect next step!
At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
