Your challenges
We are looking for an ambitious, driven and committed Business Development Manager to join our External Housing Sales Team in the UK. This role will cover the whole of the South East, including East Anglia and the Home Counties , and therefore, the ideal candidate will be based in a central location, accessible to these areas.
Reporting to the National Housing Manager and working within the Housing Account Management Team, the BDM (Housing) will be responsible for all relevant Business Development opportunities from the newbuild residential sector (both private and social housing) for their geographical area. They will also be responsible for the development, management, and relationship of all the relevant stakeholders and contacts of all our housebuilder customers, both national & regional.

Identifying and winning new customers and business gets you out of bed in the morning, and you relish the opportunity to manage all aspects of the customer journey
You can cultivate relationships throughout a wide customer base, from top-to-bottom within an organisation
You like to take full ownership and accountability for your own geographical area in both planning and performance
You are confident in communicating the housebuilding value proposition to key stakeholders and are experienced in handling objections
You have grit, with an outlook that sees opportunities and solutions where others may see problems
You are change oriented and see the benefit in doing things differently to achieve goals
You understand that a focus on data driven decision making is critical – and see the importance of embracing a CRM, data led sales culture
You are committed to self-improvement and development through interactions with managers and colleagues
You can use data provided to develop an area strategy to deliver on business objectives
You have the ability to work on your own initiative and understand how this forms part of the wider strategic sales framework
You can demonstrate a track record of selling via a variety of different channels with your relationship building both internally and externally being a factor in your success
Your qualifications
Educated to degree level or with relevant business experience
At least 2 years’ experience in a construction related sales (preferably housing market) or account management role
Knowledge of the house building industry, including regulatory requirements
Experience in development of account management strategy
Willingness to share knowledge across functions and the Matrix organisation
Continuous Improvement Mindset
Ability to work with predefined objectives and measures ensuring accountability and meeting goals
Understanding of house builder procurement and supply chain process
Project Management skills
Ability to understand working drawings in the context of building regulatory environment and provide workable solutions.
Strong negotiation skill and ability
Familiarity with Microsoft office suite
Experience of using CRM systems
Ability to work at heights on site if required
