Salary: up to £45,235.31(depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join their team of staff in the Marketing department.

This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Degree educated
  • Proven influencing and sales skills
  • MS Office particularly Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strategy development and implementation
  • Experience in developing and implementing sales and marketing plans
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Good presentational skills both written and oral
  • Key Account Management experience including stakeholder engagement
  • Experience of customer relations management / business to business sales
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of service developments
  • Operational sales skills.
    Strong customer service skills.
    Leading and delivering change to influence business growth.
    Knowledge of the independent healthcare sector.
    Excellent IT skills to interrogate systems and data internally and externally.
    Analytical way of thinking.
    Ability to identify opportunity from conversation.
    Understanding of different strands of Private medical funders.
    Ability to understand and translate healthcare market data.
    Create and present reports to advise and influence strategic planning.
    Able to project plan, track performance using Microsoft Office packages.
  • Desirable:
    • Worked as a BDM in a healthcare environment.
    • Understanding of the West Midlands Healthcare landscape.
    • Experience of NHS contracting.
    • Understanding of wider healthcare stakeholder market.


Duties of this role include:

  • Ensuring that productive stakeholder relations are built and maintained with private and public, service referrers and service users to maintain sales in line with required activity
  • Ensuring that all customers receive the best possible customer experience during their non-clinical customer journey and that the hospital's service profile remains in line with local market demands. In line with the corporate and hospital operational plan, work in conjunction with the Executive Director and other members of the senior management team to devise and implement a sales and marketing strategy, which ensures the delivery of budgeted activity across all payor groups.
  • Produce and maintain the hospital sales and marketing tactical action plan, detailing key initiatives which will drive sales performance.
