As a Business and Human Rights Specialist, you will play an important role in the planning and delivery of projects. You will work closely with client teams, building strong relationships characterized by high levels of trust, and take an active role in project scoping and proposal writing. You will be expected to assist in the management of human rights consulting projects on schedule and within agreed budgets.
You will be recognized internally as having robust project management skills with sound commercial acumen and a good grasp of international human rights issues . In the role you will be expected to be a team player, willing to engage in a broad spectrum of challenging work. The team at Verisk Maplecroft is highly collegiate and you will be expected to collaborate constructively with colleagues from across the business.
The role may involve a degree of domestic and international travel for short periods of time (i.e. days rather than weeks), to attend conferences, client meetings and/or to meet project requirements/deliverables.
About the Day-to-Day Responsibilities of the Role
As a valued member of our Sustainable Procurement and Human Rights consulting team, you will work on a range of projects for global clients. This work is likely to include:
- Developing intelligent consulting solutions for clients in the fast-evolving world of sustainability and human rights.
- Organizing, structuring, and managing complex sustainability datasets and preparing core project documents under the guidance of senior project directors
- Helping to develop and implement corporate human rights due diligence strategies for clients
- Advising on responsible/ethical sourcing and labor rights risks in global supply chains
- Supporting key human rights impact/risk assessments for clients
- Developing sector-specific research and analysis to help inform client strategy formulation and decision making
- Supporting business development activities, including project scoping with clients, proposal writing, and creating engaging thought leadership material.

Three to five (plus) years of relevant professional experience, ideally encompassing consulting and/or client-side business and some human rights experience- A track record of practical experience delivering consulting projects
- A self-starter, preferably with some experience managing small project teams
- Excellent communications skills across oral,, written and slide deck formats and the ability to think on your feet
- Strong analytical skills and experience using various analytical frameworks and techniques such as gap assessment, benchmarking, risk/impact assessment, etc.
- Microsoft Excel proficiency and the ability to understand complex datasets.
- Some understanding of current and emerging business and human rights-related frameworks and regulatory requirements (Including the UNGPs, OECD Guidelines, and ILO conventions, as well as national and international legislation on human rights and environmental due diligence.
