Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s national economic development agency. We work with partners in the public and private sectors to find the best opportunities to grow Scotland's economy by creating more quality jobs and a brighter future for all.
The role
Based within the Digital, Data and IT (DDIT) directorate, you’ll work closely with our digital team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, on a range of digital and business transformation projects. The ambition? To create a joined-up service across our digital platforms.
Joining one or more of our cross-functional project teams as a Business Analyst, you’ll break down work into valuable and deliverable sprints, articulate our business processes, undertake data modelling, and define service improvement requirements.
This position is suited to someone looking to advance their career in business analysis and architecture. You'll gain hands-on experience in a supportive workplace while delivering organisational transformation.
Who we're looking for
You’ll be a strong communicator, confident taking the lead and using your initiative to tackle complex challenges. You’ll have experience in agile and waterfall, ideally with experience of a modern tech business and change transformation initiatives.
You’ll have specialist knowledge in BPMN 2.0 and a data-driven mentality – and know how to tell stories with data to bring problems to life for your project team and measure the benefits of the projects you’re delivering.
Using analytical thinking to solve problems will come naturally to you, and you should enjoy collaborating with others to find new solutions.
Your skills, abilities and experience should include:
- Experience translating business requirements and priorities into a well-formed business case for change and proposing solutions that meet business needs
- Experience leading and facilitating the capturing of business change (process and service) requirements from senior stakeholders and sponsors
- Experience analysing data to identify root-cause issues
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Experience applying Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) standards and capturing processes in libraries
- Confidence in challenging and improving organisational processes where these impact productivity
- Education to SCQF Level 8 or relevant skills and experience working as a business analyst at a senior level
Ideally, but not essentially, you’ll also have:
- A sound understanding of Scottish Enterprise’s business objectives, processes and structures
- Experience of delivering digital and data transformation
What we offer
If successful, you'll gain access to the following benefits:
- Membership of the Scottish Enterprise Pension and Life Assurance Scheme – a pension based on your final pensionable salary, flexible retirement options and generous life assurance cover
- Up to 43 annual leave days a year (including public holidays) with the opportunity to buy additional holidays
- Flexible working arrangements
- A health cash plan
- Our Employee Retail Benefits Scheme
- Our Employee Assistance Scheme
How to apply
If you're interested in this role, please complete your application form by 16 April 2023.
Interview dates
- First-round interviews (via Microsoft Teams) – 2 May 2023
- Second-round interviews (via Teams or in our Glasgow/Edinburgh office) – 9 May 2023
