Role Summary
This is a Business Analyst/process engineering role working with the Middle Office and reconciliations function within the Markets Operations organization providing daily support to the Global Markets Businesses trading Over the Counter (OTC) derivative transactions. This newly formed team helps to oversee the completeness of bookings, postings and flows across the trading desks and Central Counterparty (CCP) clearing Houses. The team is critical in completing daily reconciliations to ensure balances tie out and there are no breaks across our processes and flows across the lifecycle of the trade.
You will play a pivotal part in helping to support the lifecycle of a trade. Working closely with Business partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure all transactions flow through our front to back Operations teams, with no issues. You will develop a broad and detailed understanding of the Organization’s landscape, culture, processes, and Technology supporting the design and implementation of new processes and enhancements as required. You will have the opportunity to recommend creative suggestions on how to improve processes to minimize losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders and teams from across the eco-system to identify their needs and assist in translating these to requirements and user stories.
- Map and analyse current state processes and data flows and design future state processes.
- Identify client needs through in-depth research and data analysis spanning across the value chain. Ensuring upstream and downstream impacts are considered.
- Work closely with our data & platform teams to deliver quality regulatory and risk outcomes.
- Leverage your “can do” attitude to manage multiple inflight initiatives.
- Exception and breaks management and resolution through the lifecycle of a trade
- Understanding and confirming books and records postings.
- Analysis, escalation and resolution of breaks / risk with Senior Management.
- Executing critical core operations activities to maintain a culture and environment where processes, risks and controls are continually monitored and potential risks escalated on a timely basis.
- Facilitating risk close out for market transactions, as an invested Operations partner and advisor for the Organisation.
- Daily Collaboration across Global Trading, and Operations teams to provide solutions and identify/resolve root cause.
- Acting as key point of contact for the team across internal and external stakeholders.
- Identifying trends, synergies and weaknesses across products and regions.
- Recommending control enhancements as needed
- Providing input to re-engineer, improve and measure processes by delivering enhancements to the control environment, and the trade journey with input to design techniques and digital automation.
- Providing valuable input into strategic platform re-engineering initiatives, reducing manual touch points and aligning tech delivery vs. business goals and wallet share optimization.
- Providing input into initiatives that continuously improve straight through processing (STP) rates, including innovative re-engineering techniques.
Eligibility Requirements
- BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Experience in Tier 1 global financial institutions preferably with experience in Operations preferred.
- Derivatives, OTC Derivatives, Futures, Break resolution, Reconciliations, Controls, Middle office, Equities or Fixed Income experience.
