Job description

The City of York Council's corporate Business Support Service is offering an exciting opportunity to join the team.


The post will primarily support teams within Adult Social Care, as part of the business support.


Successful candidates will provide high quality administrative support, working closely with social workers, service managers and partner agencies.


Key skills required for the role:


  • Effective telephone skills as this role will be the initial point of contact for customers, colleagues and professionals
  • Ability to use software to redact documents as part of redactions for subject access requests (SAR)
  • Ability to arrange and minute meetings
  • Effective, tactful and diplomatic interpersonal skills
  • High degree of computer literacy and experience working with information technology
  • Ability to work effectively and flexibly as part of a team and using their own initiative to respond to changing priorities and conflicting demands
  • Strong organisational skills, including good time and task management
  • Ability to adapt working practices, suggest service improvements and be responsive to change
  • Ability to interrogate the case management database to obtain required information
