Building Surveyor - Tisbury
Summary
We are looking for a Building Surveyor to join us in the South West on a two-year fixed term contract. Contractually based from our Tisbury (Wiltshire) office, you will be covering our property portfolios across Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire, you will be working alongside other building professionals to care for iconic properties such as Corfe Castle, Stourhead, Kingston Lacy, Lacock Abbey, Montacute House, Barrington Court and Brownsea Island.
We support hybrid working and are happy to explore working arrangements that strike the right balance for you and the Trust. We are offering a salary of £40,000.

You will also be part of our wider regional and national networks of Building Surveyors.
What you'll be doing
You will apply your technical excellence to support and lead projects to conserve, maintain, repair and refurbish a wide range of properties across the portfolios; working with buildings and infrastructure ranging from large manor houses and visitor facilities, through to other structures such as follies and farm buildings.
Working with our property and operational teams you will plan and deliver conservation-focussed repair and maintenance, as well as refurbishments and adaptive re-use. You will also contribute towards our ongoing programme of Conservation Condition Reports and Conservation Management Reviews.
You will procure and oversee external consultants and contractors as well as liaising closely with our internal specialists from Curators to Visitor Experience Consultants, Planning Advisors to Archaeologists and Ecologists.
You will bring your interest and knowledge of sustainable design principles to the projects and properties that you are involved with, looking for solutions that respond to the implications of climate change and that contribute towards our climate action ambitions.
Who we're looking for
- Relevant professional qualification e.g. Chartered Surveyor MRICS, MCIOB, ARB
- Direct experience of working as a Building Surveyor in a heritage context
- Experience of undertaking surveys and inspections, diagnosing building defects and specifying repair and conservation works for a range of building types, including traditional and Listed buildings
- Experience in preparing, co-ordinating and managing planned maintenance schedules and assisting clients in phasing and the delivery of the works
- Experience of construction contract administration, including the JCT suite of contracts
