So, what are we looking for?
Bridgewater Canal Company are owners and operator of a busy inland waterway, used mainly for recreational purposes and we have a new opportunity for a new Maintenance worker to join our Bridgewater canal team.
The main duty of the role is to ensure all boats using the Bridgewater Canal conform to the licence and mooring policies and procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will need to hold the below, essential skills/ experience:
· Driving Licence.
· Assertive
· Ability to manage conflict and deal with vulnerable and abusive members of public Ability to work under pressure.
· Ability to manage own time and workload.
· Ability to work as part of a team.
· Able to work with minimal supervision.
· Ability to follow instruction.
· Good communication skills.
· Good IT skills – Word – Excel - e-mail and other internal systems.
· Good problem-solving skills.
· Good attention to detail.
· Ideally the postholder will have significant experience in the field of enforcement.
· Demonstrable experience of dealing with difficult people
What will you be doing?
Day to day, you will be responsible for carrying out enforcement inspections of unlicenced boats on the Bridgewater Canal and input and update enforcement app and internal reports.
You will also
· Monitor boating under the reciprocal agreements between the Bridgewater Canal Company and The Canal & Rivers Trust.
· Manage mooring restrictions at visitor moorings and popular areas on the Bridgewater Canal.
· Making balanced judgements and recommendations on individual cases.
· Exercise discretion and provide advice on enforcement and licencing policies and procedures.
· Assist with seizure and documentation of unauthorised craft under Bridgewater Canal enforcement procedures.
· Monitor official mooring locations to ensure internal information/documents are updated and correct.
· Out of hours/weekend work as required?
· To attend meetings as and when required such as Canal Watch?
· To carry out any other duties as requested by your line managers and authorised company officials.
