Job description

Job Title: Part-Time Bookkeeper

Job Summary: We are seeking a part-time bookkeeper to join our team and assist in maintaining our financial records and transactions. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. The bookkeeper will work closely with the finance department and contribute to the overall financial health of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Record and maintain financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero).
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoicing, payments, and collections.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial documents.
  • Prepare and issue financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting principles, regulations, and company policies.
  • Manage payroll processing, including calculating wages, deducting taxes, and preparing paystubs.
  • Maintain an organized system for financial documentation and records.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Assist with tax preparation and liaise with external auditors as required.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management when needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping or a related role.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and tax regulations is a plus.
  • Certification or diploma in accounting or bookkeeping is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time position with flexible hours (e.g., 20-25 hours per week).
  • Office-based work environment.
  • May require occasional meetings with team members or external stakeholders.
  • Some remote work may be possible, depending on company policies.

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 20-25 per week

Salary: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
