Job description
Lincoln City Libraries currently has a full-time (40 hours per week) Library Service Associate position available working at both the Eiseley Branch Library (1530 Superior Street, Lincoln, NE 68521) and the Williams Branch Library (4900 Mike Scholl Street, Lincoln, NE 68524).
Library Service Associates are front-line staff, providing excellent direct customer service to the public. Tasks include assisting with the checkout of materials, issuing library cards, providing technology assistance, recommending materials to customers, promoting library programs and online resources, assisting with the access and use of library resources, and processing payments on customer accounts. They may also be involved in presenting library programs.
Work schedules will vary and will include day, evening, and weekend hours at locations as assigned. All positions are assigned to a primary branch or service unit - service units consist of a large branch library and a smaller branch library, and staff may be assigned to work at both locations in a day.
Bilingual language skills are desired.
Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent and six months of experience in providing customer service to the public; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
To be eligible for insurance benefits, employees must work at least 30 hours per week.
To be eligible for the retirement plan, employees must work at least 20 hours per week.
Temporary, seasonal, and unclassified employees are not eligible for benefits.
