Job description
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, HCPC registered candidate to join the Mid Yorkshire Pathology Team as a Biomedical Scientist, working in the Haematology and Transfusion Department of Blood Sciences.
Applications are invited from experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with a completed IBMS Specialist Portfolio for the Specialist Biomedical Scientist role (Agenda for Change Band 6).
Applicants with almost completed portfolios will be considered for this role. In this situation, a portfolio assessment by the departmental training officer would become a pre-employment requirement.
Applications are also sought from HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists for a Biomedical Scientist role (AfC Band 5). The department would support the successful candidate in completing their IBMS Specialist Portfolio.
Applications may also be considered for a Trainee Biomedical Scientist role for applicants who have yet to complete an IBMS Registration Portfolio but have a completed IBMS accredited degree.
The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust covers three sites, Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury Hospitals. Haematology and Transfusion is present on the Pinderfields and Dewsbury sites.
The post holder will be required to participate in a shift system which includes rotation across Pinderfields and Dewsbury.
The department is under a managed service contract with Haematology and Transfusion equipment supplied by Sysmex and Biorad.
