North West London Pathology (NWLP) is a new partnership between Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Chelsea & Westminster NHS Trust and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Trust. The partnership represents a new model for delivering pathology testing in a modern, efficient operation that manages 25 million tests per year. Our services are delivered at six hospital sites across North West London.
We are now offering a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly and dedicated Blood Science at the Hammersmith Hospital.
As a Specialist Band 6 Biomedical Scientist you would contribute to the effective running of analytical tests in the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory and an intergral part of the Biomedical Scinetist team where you would have the opportunity to develop your self professionally by engaging in shared learning platforms and team building tasks.
In this role, you would need a specialist understanding of the Clinical Chemistry while maintaining a high level of attention to detail in handling samples arriving into the department while carrying out analytical tests and validating results to be released to the clinical area You would be responsible for the timely handling of samples and be able to handle basic queries received from clinicians regarding the status of samples.
You would also require an excellent ability to maintain concentration while triaging such samples into different catergories of clinical urgency. In addition, you would require a high level of speed and accuracy during the analysis with a fundamental understanding of the clinical significance of the results.
For this role, you will participate in a shift system; your default shift would comprise of 7.5hour shifts for any hours between 9am and 8pm with an hour’s lunch on any 5 days of the week
