We provide high quality pathology services at six hospital sites across North West London.
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly and dedicated Blood Sciences team at Charing Cross Hospital working in Clinical Biochemistry. North West London Pathology operates as a hub and spoke model for the provision of pathology services, with Charing Cross Hospital operating as the hub pathology site.
All major analytical equipment will be state of the art analysers including Abbott Alinity HQ Haematology analysers, Stago StarMax2 Haemostasis analysers, Alifax ESR Technology, Abbott Alinity CI Chemistry, Immuno-Chemistry analysers and BioRad IH1000 Blood Grouping analyser. The department has moved onto a single multi-discipline automated track solution provided by Abbott, and will be fully integrated within a single department Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology & Haemostasis, Viral Serology and Immunology as a multi-discipline automated laboratory (MDAL).
The laboratory is covered 24 hours every day and staff are expected to participate in the night worker rota to cover absence or vacancy if required which contributes to the continuity and quality of care for patients in the Trust hospitals. Staffs’ are expected to travel across our six hospital sites when required.

To undertake training in basic medical laboratory practice and if necessary to attend an approved course leading to Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registration in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
Performance of a range of clinical technical services under the supervision of a HCPC Registered Scientist, usually the section leader.
Contributes to providing a professional laboratory service, working effectively as a team member as part of the overall department.
Provides basic clinical technical services to patients that may include research and audit.
