Job description
We are looking for a state registered Biomedical Scientist to become part of our team in the busy, professional and friendly Haematology & Blood Transfusion Laboratories. Applicants MUST be HCPC registered.
The department has recently moved into a new laboratory area and undergone an analyser refresh with Sysmex XN2000/1000 cell counters, Sysmex CS2500i coagulation analysers and Sysmex EPU middleware under a managed service partnership with Roche. Ortho Vision analysers have recently been implemented in Blood Bank.
Flexible working is a requirement for this post. The Department operates a 24/7 shift system on each site covering haematology and blood transfusion, in which the successful candidate will be expected to participate following initial training. Payment for this will be at Agenda for Change rates. (Blood Sciences 24/7 working currently attracts short term local recruitment and retention premia of £5K pa).
As a Biomedical Scientist with Specialist knowledge in
Haematology the post holder will be responsible for the
delivery of a scientific and technical service that will help
achieve the clinical objectives of efficient and effective patient
care. They will be expected to work as part of a team on a
rotational basis in the diagnostic areas of the laboratory
performing the delegated work to the required standards. The
post holder will be required to undertake their responsibilities
within any of the sections of Haematology and may involve the
supervision and training of more junior members of staff.
