Job Purpose
We are seeking an enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist ideally with experience and knowledge of the Biochemistry, Immunoassay and Haematology disciplines to join our Diagnostics Team. This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your skills in biomedical science within a new private laboratory.

Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialist analytical testing on a range of biological samples
- Perform data analysis and authorisation within professional capacity
- Review and release results through the LIMS system
- Process patient samples in good time and make sure that turnaround times for reporting results are achieved and maintained
- Identify abnormal or unexpected results and report back and follow up with requesting clinicians
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with specimens or analytical equipment
- Maintain and run specialist lab equipment
- Laboratory stock control and ordering
- Have good communication skills to enable fielding of telephone inquiries about test results and other general lab issues
- Accurately record data, write reports, and share results
- Participate in the evaluation of new equipment and testing methods
- Participate in maintaining the Quality Management System (ISO 15189) and observe all relevant health and safety regulations
- Participate in routine audit
- Contribute to staff training and development
- Participate and engage with all relevant CQC requirements and contribute to upholding the certification
- Ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Upholding the values and mission of our B Corporation certification by actively participating in and contributing to our sustainability and social impact initiatives.

Requirements and Experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience in Biochemistry and Haematology is essential
- PCR experience is preferred
- Registration as a Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- At least 3 years post HCPC registration multidisciplinary laboratory experience
- Hold evidence of, and continue to demonstrate, continual personal/professional development, ensuring up-to-date knowledge and working to high professional standards.
- Experience using a variety of analytical techniques
- Educated to degree level or equivalent with a degree accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS), in Biological, Medical or Health Science disciplines
- Hold a relevant MSc and/or have completed IBMS Specialist Portfolio
