We are looking for a graduate level biologist who are willing to learn new techniques and technologies under a highly dynamic and multidisciplinary environment. Up to one year of lab experience is ideal and mammalian cell culture experience is essential.
The Biologist will be supporting the day-to-day running of the Biology Lab, (learn to) perform a wide range of biological techniques and applications while working closely with internal stakeholders from multiple departments. Overtime you are expected to design and carry out small scale experiments and present the findings to the wider team. You are expected to keep good records and support document drafting and updating as we build our Quality Management System.
BiologIC is currently recruiting for this role to report into the Biology Lead.
Key responsibilities
This role is expected to evolve as the needs of the growing business change. The initial work is anticipated to be:
- ScientificWorking with the Biology Lead, contribute to the characterisation and validation of cell growth and behaviour in our 3D Printed systems
Working with the Biology Lead, contribute to the experimental design and execution of Research, Design and Validation assays to support the application of biological processes from concept to customer
Perform routine laboratory functions to support experiments and investigations, such as cell culture of multiple cell types
Provide biological material as required to support testing with the wider team (such as cells, plasmid DNA and proteins)
Maintain good record keeping of lab notebook
Analyse findings and write reports
Design and conduct small scale experiments
- Lab maintenance. Working with the Biology Lead;Monitor and maintain liquid nitrogen supply for the cell bank
Keep maintenance, service and calibration log of key laboratory equipment
Monitor the stock level and usability of lab consumable and reagent and order as required
- Health and SafetyComply with company health and safety regulations
Support and contribute to COSHH evaluation and equipment risk assessment
