Senior Biomedical Scientist –Multidiscipline Laboratory
Salary: Competitive
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week. There are internal shifts rotation, including 0730 am – 4pm, 8am – 4.30pm, 10.30am – 7pm and 12.30pm – 9pm; also to include some weekends covering the hours of 8am – 8.30pm.
Location: Primarily based in the satellite laboratory at London Bridge, there may be a requirement to attend shifts at other HCA Laboratories for training or when needs arise.

Vacancy Summary:
As a Senior Biomedical Scientist with comprehensive experience in Hospital Transfusion, you will be trained in a multi-disciplinary analytical role, enabling the provision of a comprehensive 24-hour pathology service for laboratory users. Full training will be provided for Sample Reception, Haematology, and Biochemistry.
Duties and Responsibilities
Expected to work in all areas of Blood Sciences (Haematology, Chemistry, blood Transfusion and Sample reception)
Main responsibilities include would include; Speedy and accurate processing of samples, validation, document control, stock management, participation in the compilation of data required for various meetings and keeping maintenance records up to date.
Interpretation, validation and timely reporting of results
Assist the Section Leader with the day to day running of the Pathology department
Ensure equipment are in good working order
Liaise and assist specimen Reception and other sections within the laboratory
Adhere to Health and Safety policies
Follow HCA policies and procedures
Skills and Experience
BSc/MSc
HCPC Registered
Member if the Institute of Biomedical Sciences
Evidence of continual personal development
Multidisciplinary experience in Blood Sciences is desirable but training will be provided
Transfusion Specialist Portfolio or BBTS specialist is desirable (Or 5 years experience in a hospital Blood Transfusion laboratory)
