Bioinformatics Scientist (Multi-omics & Pan-genomics) Harpenden, England
Job description
Overview Of Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a multidisciplinary team studying the regulation of protein abundance in plants: https://www.rothamsted.ac.uk/news/multi-million-pound-magic-conjuring-answers-one-life%E2%80%99s-basic-questions
The post holder will work very closely with a lab-based postdoctoral researcher (genomics/proteomics) situated at Rothamsted Research and postdoctoral researchers (pangenome construction/statistical genetics, and proteomics, respectively) based at University College London and University of Cambridge. The overall aims of the project are to conduct a multi-omic analysis of Arabidopsis MAGIC lines and founders, to relate the Arabidopsis MAGIC pangenome to RNA and protein regulatory networks and to determine to what extent protein abundance predicts plant phenotype.
The post-holder will focus on the implementation and, where necessary, development of methods, for statistical and bioinformatics analysis of the various levels of ‘omic data in a pangenome context. We are looking for a dynamic and able individual with a MSc or PhD in bioinformatics, statistical genetics, or similar area. Prior experience of coding and methods development in a related field would be strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have access to a cutting-edge high-performance computing cluster and an in-house Galaxy platform, supported by the core Bioinformatics team. Experience of working with plants is not necessary.
