What you’ll do
The Data domain is essential to the success of Vodafone UK as this team is accountable for the architecture and design of our Big Data platforms, Data warehousing and Reporting practice.
By applying machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques, the Big Data team are at the forefront of building a data driven company to better meet customers’ needs and offer them truly personalised services and products and deliver them a great customer experience.
- You will work closely with the team and our stakeholders to build and deliver our Cloud based vision for a next generation Big Data analytics platform.
- You will work with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, DataOps Engineers and DevOps Engineers to maintain data availability and quality of data and help drive the company strategy and marketing campaigns out to our customers.
- You will produce robust, high-quality data ingest pipelines in alignment with our best practices. This will include all relevant documentation, making use of practices such as defensive programming, ensuring quality issues are raised and addressed.
- You will need to focus on data quality, data security and deliver the systems that process huge volumes of data.
- You will work as part of an agile team. You are responsible for the completion of your tickets within the sprint, you will aid others that are blocked to achieve sprint goals.
Who you are
- You will be able to assess data feeds against Data Quality Dimensions using SQL and/or Python
- You will be developing scalable data pipelines in Spark/Python (PySpark), Hive, BigQuery.
- You will have experience in large and complex code bases (e.g. Github, GitLab, Gitflow, EnvFlow, Fork/Pull Model) and cloud services via IDE (PyCharm, Visual Studio Code) or CLI (bash, zsh)
- You will have knowledge of Python Notebooks, such as Jupyter, Zeppelin, or Google Datalab to analyse, prototype, and visualise data and quality output.
- You will have knowledge of cloud-based Big Data services and platforms, such as AWS and/or GCP.
- You will be happy to work as part of an Agile team (Scrum, Kanban) producing frequent and timely deliverables.
