Are you passionate about leveraging data to improve the lives of children and families? Are you experienced in analysing complex data sets and translating them into actionable insights for decision-making? As a Business Intelligence Analyst within the Children and Young People Directorate's Data and Performance team, you will have the opportunity to work with meaningful data, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and drive positive outcomes for the children and families Islington Council supports.
We have two vacancies available for this role within our team. The postholders will be part of a dynamic data and analytical service supporting managers and staff across Islington Council’s Children and Young People directorate. Successful candidates will lead on either 14-19 participation in Education, Employment and Training (EET) or children's social care data.
The postholder will take the lead for providing specialist analytical support for at least one area within Children and Young People – this could be part of Children’s Social Care, the Youth Justice Service, Early Help, Youth and Play and / or 14 – 19 Progress. The postholder will also be expected to provide support for other areas where they are not the lead, on occasion, as required.

London Borough of Islington have brought in a ‘FutureWork’ programme, which includes a model of working that can be adapted for different roles. Each role is classified as one of four work styles. The Business Intelligence Analyst role is classified as a desk-based worker. This means the role will be mainly working from home but will be expected to work in the office on average one day a week.
The postholder will be part of a dynamic data and analytical service supporting managers and staff across Islington Council’s Children and Young People directorate.
The postholder will take the lead for providing specialist analytical support for at least one area within Children and Young People – this could be part of Children’s Social Care, the Youth Justice Service, Early Help, Youth and Play and / or 14 – 19 Progress. The postholder will also be expected to provide support for other areas where they are not the lead, on occasion, as required.
With minimal supervision the Business Intelligence Analyst will deliver high quality data and analytics using extensive knowledge of public sector data and business processes, and excellent analytical and technical skills.
The postholder will collate, model, analyse and interpret data from a range of systems and sources across the Islington council and its partners. They will deliver extensive business intelligence and data services, including performance reports, dashboards, statutory reporting and in-depth analysis.
The postholder will project plan and deliver the collection and analysis of data required for statutory returns / assessments and support good inspection outcomes for local authority services through the provision of timely data and accurate performance information.
The postholder will support the development of strategic and departmental policy, contributing to lasting improvements in the quality of services through the provision of high quality data and professional advisory services.
