The Role
We are offering a 12-month internship starting in July 2023, and ending in July 2024. Based at our offices in Granta Park, Cambridge, you will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful project work, professional and personal development, and networking opportunities.
As a member of the Assay research team, you will help create innovative library preparation products that enable our customers to carry out faster, streamlined, and simpler workflows. You will participate in a project to evolve Illumina's library preparation technologies and work alongside experienced scientists who are at the forefront of library preparation innovation.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Design and execute molecular biology/biochemistry experiments
- Operate state-of-the-art equipment, including Illumina sequencers
- Analyze experimental data
- Present results to peers
- Work closely with other scientists in the team
- Document procedures and results
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- A recent graduate with a BSc or MSc in a biological science (e.g. biochemistry/biology/genetics/natural sci.)
- A working knowledge of or background in Next Generation Sequencing would be advantageous but not essential
- A keen interest/knowledge in genetics, genomics and sequencing methodologies
- Sound understanding of DNA/RNA manipulation techniques
- Understanding of nucleic acid biochemistry and the application of molecular biology techniques
- An ability to troubleshoot molecular biology and biochemistry issues
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
