TO Live is currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team on the plaza of Meridian Hall. We have launched a new initiative to activate this vibrant outdoor space. As part of our team, your focus will be serving various café and bar beverages to audiences and the public. From aromatic coffee and frothy cappuccinos to exquisite wines, beers, and other enticing alcoholic beverages, you'll play a crucial role in creating a delightful experience. Additionally, we will offer a selection of delicious, prepared food for patrons to enjoy.
This seasonal part-time position is ideal for outgoing individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, diverse environment and possess exceptional customer service skills. We also welcome existing employees of the patron services department to apply. As a new employee, you can continue your journey with TO Live as a concession attendant in the venue of your choosing once the patio shuts down for the season.
To succeed in this role, you'll need to be flexible with your schedule, including weekdays, weekday evenings, and weekends. We require candidates who can adapt to these varied shifts. Please note that this is a unionized position, and successful candidates will be required to join IATSE Local B-173.

ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up food and beverage stations in temporary or semi-permanent locations.
- Arrange and maintain stock items at each service location.
- Take orders from the public for various beverages and food items.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages as needed.
- Reheat prepared food when necessary.
- Process orders, handle payments, and provide change.
- Verify the legal age of customers when required.
- Practice safe serving techniques and promptly report any concerns to management.
- Inform management of supply requirements.
- Create attractive displays and merchandise drinks.
- Keep the storage room organized.
- Replace kegs and restock products as needed.
- Clean customer tables and chairs and dispose of garbage.
- Wash equipment, pots, pans, and dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior surfaces, food and beverage stations, equipment, chairs, tables, and general grounds.
- Direct customers to washrooms as needed.
- Regularly check and address cleanliness and stock issues in washrooms.
- Troubleshoot and attempt repairs of food and beverage equipment as needed.
- Perform daily opening and closing procedures involving the patio furniture, cash, cleaning, and security.
- Assess venue security and escalate concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Possess a valid Smart Serve certification.
- Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.
- Meet the legal age requirement to serve alcohol in Ontario.
- Have 2-3 years of experience in a comparable food and beverage environment, including cash handling and serving alcohol.
- Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently for entire shifts.
- Possess basic math skills and money-handling ability.
- Stand and work at a fast pace for the entire shift.
- Lift and carry food and other items weighing up to 45 pounds and occasionally more.
- Follow directions from management.
- Be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and be a team player.
- Exhibit strong customer service skills.
- Maintain a well-groomed, mannerly, cooperative, and friendly demeanour.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Flexible hours, including work on days, nights, and weekends for 30-40 hours per week.
- Adapt to variable weather conditions during workings outside.
- Travel between TO Live venues as required.
- Adhere to TO Live Health and Safety Policies and protocols, including COVID-19 vaccine and guidelines.
