Job description
Introduction
If you are naturally caring and looking for a flexible career where you can make a difference to the lives of others to fit with your schedule, then join the staff Bank at Garden & Jacobs Neurological Centre as a Bank Healthcare Assistant.
Whether you are:
- Already a Healthcare Assistant/Support Worker in the NHS or private sector, or
- Are looking for a new career where you can use your transferable skills;
You can enjoy a flexible and rewarding career full of job satisfaction on our staff bank as Bank Healthcare Assistant.
Following a 2-week paid induction, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to join the team, where you will be valued and supported, with the ability to pick up available shifts from an app as and when it suits you.
It can be very physical working with people with limited mobility, providing personal care (feeding, washing, and showering) and although challenging, it is highly rewarding. You’ll be supported by a team of colleagues ready to lend a hand and work together to a common goal.
Being a Bank Healthcare Assistant at Garden & Jacobs Neurological Centre is a career that you can take pride in. It’s what delivering great healthcare should feel like.
What you will be doing

The unit provides a high-level of personal and rehabilitative care in a community-facing environment.
Training and support will be provided to ensure you can provide the high-quality and progressive care necessary, where you will work as part of a wider team to deliver the individual care each person needs while maintaining accurate records.
The service is a 24/7 environment, with full time and part-time shifts available to accept through our app, once you have completed induction.
Where you will be working
Gardens Neurological Centre and Jacobs Neurological Centre have a combined total of 132 beds on the same site in Sawbridgeworth (CM21 0HH), which is on the Hertfordshire and Essex border within easy travelling distance of London and Cambridge.
The two Centres deliver specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions, and brain or spinal injuries who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise functional ability.
Recovery is assisted wherever possible, with emphasis placed on maximising each individual's abilities, comfort and quality of life.
Each service has communal lounges, dining rooms, and all bedrooms have en-suite facilities with over 95% on single occupancy. All rooms are adapted to each resident's requirements according to their assessments and needs.
What you will get
- Hourly rate of £11.49 (inclusive of a 12.07% uplift)
- Subsidised meals and free parking
- Wellbeing support and activities
- Mandatory training
- Two weeks paid induction
- Flexible working opportunities
There are also a range of other benefits including retail discounts and special offers, and much more.
