Job description
The Improvement Directorate working collaboratively with teams in the Strategic, Transformation and Redesign (STaR) Model is looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager within the Programme Management Office.
The role is to support and facilitate a structured approach to the implementation of transformation programmes within the Trust supporting a broad range or projects/programmes.
The successful candidate will work and support clinical groups and corporate areas to bring expertise in change management approaches, including project management and quality improvement, to maximise benefits of change, be that service improvement or cost saving.
If successful you would be working alongside high-performing colleagues within the STaR Model and have exposure to a wide range of work and opportunities.
Successful candidates are expected to work across all sites flexibly with a minimum of 3 day a week on-site working.
As a Project Manager the postholder will develop and implement policies and processes to effectively manage service and cost improvement programmes for the organisation and across the wider system as required.
A Project Manager may work on one or more programmes and will work flexibly across the Trust on agreed programmes using formal project management methods for the management and delivery of improvement projects, through the full project cycle from case for change to delivery and benefits realisation.
They will work closely with clinical/professional and corporate teams at all levels, both internal and external, to ensure service and cost improvement schemes are underpinned by robust governance to ensure quality, safety and benefits realisation metrics.
They will be responsible for leading planning and organising activities as part of the support they provide to relevant stakeholders. This includes ensuring implementation plans are developed, Quality and Equality impact assessments are undertaken, and local risk and issue logs are maintained.
Under the leadership of our Chair Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, we provide care for the residents of three of the most diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.
Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.
As we recover from Covid-19, we’re proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change.
We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
