Job description
We are looking for a part time 12 month maternity cover to join our Surgical Dietetic team with the opportunity for flexible working hours.
Experience in complex enteral tube feeding and parenteral nutrition is required.
Previous experience in Surgery is desirable but not essential as training can be given.
Manage a caseload of adults with complex needs referred from the acute surgical service, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions
Advise on all aspects of dietetic management of surgical patients for ELHT with support from acute team leads
Provide training and clinical supervision on the dietetic management of surgical patients for dietitians, dietetic assistant practitioners, and dietetic students
Represent dietetics at meetings regarding surgical services at ELHT.
This post is based at Royal Blackburn Hospital
Clinical support and supervision will be available from the band 7 Specialist Dietitian as well as band 6 peers. The team is part of the wider Dietetic Department covering the hospitals and communities of East Lancashire. The department has nearly 90 staff and covers many specialties and is known for its innovation and development.
The post holder would be expected to take part in student training for Dietitians and other health care professionals.
The successful candidate will work closely with all members of the MDT to provide expert dietetic care to our surgical patients. The caseload is mainly inpatients in specialities such as HPB and Colorectal as well as Gastro Intestinal Tract outpatient clinics. The postholder would be expected to attend Consultant ward rounds and MDT meetings.
The department is an experienced trainer for Dietetic students on placement 1, 2 and 3 from Chester University, and we have recently expanded to provide placements to Manchester Metropolitan and the University of Central Lancashire. The post holder would also be involved in the clinical training of Medical students and other Health Care professional students.
