Job overview
The primary role of the successful applicant will be to monitor patients for overnight investigations in the Sleep Unit.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
The post holder should be familiar (training for this will be provided) with the instrumentation used for investigating sleep induced changes in the physiology of the neurological, muscular, cardiac and respiratory systems. The post holder will be required to work without on-site supervision, unless regulations stipulate assistance.
Monitoring of Investigative procedures include:
Polysomnography studies including -
electroencephalography, electro-oculography,
electromyography, electrocardiography and
respiratory traces
Transcutaneous O2 and CO2 monitoring
Administration and titration of nasal CPAP and NIV

- Functional skills Level 2 English Language and Maths Qualification or GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English Language
- Care Certificate or evidence or Training & Development associated with Health Care Support Worker role
- Level 2/3 NVQ/ Diploma in Health
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working / participating as part of a team.
- Evidence of ability to work using own initiative and under minimal supervision
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the role and tasks involved
- Can articulate the reasons for training/ standards of practice and behaviour and how these may be demonstrated / relate to patient care and safety
Desirable
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a care environment in the last 12 months

- Flexible approach to shift patterns and place of work this may include working in different practice settings in different locations dependent upon service need
