Job description
The candidate will be someone who can deliver and create excellent products and service in an efficient, professional manner. The bakery role will be to prepare products for our shop, markets, and wholesale. This includes preparing brownies, cakes, pies, and pastries using an oven under high temperature. The person will be provided with on-the-job training, but it is expected that within a short period of time, the person will become proficient in this area and be able to work independently, to fulfil the allocated tasks.
The roles includes but is not limited to:
· Work as a team to establish production schedule and set quota for the number of goods to be produced on daily basis.
· Assess the quality of raw materials before baking to ensure conformance to set standards.
· Weigh out precise amount of baking ingredients using scales or graduated containers.
· Uniformly mix ingredients using equipment such as blenders and mixers.
· Maintain good knowledge of equipment and how to operate them.
· Adjust thermostatic controls to regulate temperature of oven.
· Maintain a clean and hygienic work area in accordance with health and safety regulations.
· Decorate baked products by applying icings, toppings, and glaze to achieve a finished appearance.
· Display products in a professional manner.
· Ensure proper storage of baking utensils and supplies.
· Manage inventory levels informing supervisor when stock needs reordered.
· Package and distribute products.
· Greeting customers, answering questions, making recommendations, accepting orders and payments, and providing exceptional customer service.
· Cash handling will be required so the individual must be honest and trustworthy.
Baker Requirements:
· High School GCSE’s or equivalent, both English and Maths Grade C or above.
· Hospitality qualification or experience may be preferred.
· Computer literacy required.
· Strong communication, interpersonal skills and drive to achieve customer satisfaction.
· Good planning, time and resource management.
· Attention to detail, especially when performing quality inspections on ingredients and products.
· Ideal candidate will be organised, decisive and attentive.
· Willingness to work independently and with team members to solve problems, plan schedules and fulfil orders.
Training and progression opportunities:
· All staff will be required to obtain a Level 2 Food Hygiene certification and Allergen training.
· All bakery staff will be given on the job training.
· Barista training will be provided.
