What you'll do
You’ll apply widely agreed engineering principles and methodologies to design, develop, test and maintain applications and services to achieve the stated business and technology goals within required budgets and timelines.
We’ll look to you to oversee the quality of our work, while making sure that it meets the technical standards for all services output, and write unit and integration tests in automated test environments to ensure our code's quality.
You’ll also:
- Design reusable libraries and APIs for use across our bank
- Develop software that's amenable for a greater automation of build, release testing and the deployment process on all environments
- Drive the reuse and sharing of platform components and technologies within the software engineering teams
- Provide software components to enable the delivery of platforms, applications and services
The skills you'll need
You’ll need a background in software engineering, software design or database design and architecture that utilises Microsoft, .NET stack and associated technologies, as well as extensive experience of developing software in a SOA or microservices paradigm.
Additionally, you'll have development experience in a programming language, knowledge of how to use industry recognised frameworks and development tooling and a background of implementing programming best practices, especially around scalability, availability and performance.
Furthermore, you’ll need:
- Experience of test-driven development, alongside the use of automated test frameworks, like Nunit and XUnit, mocking, like Moq, and stubbing and unit testing tools, like Coverlet
- An understanding of sizing and estimating through an Agile delivery mindset and Azure deployments and pipelines, such as Azure DevOps or similar
- Knowledge of C# development that uses associated technologies and coding that follow common design patterns, like Gang of Four, SOLID and clean coding
- A background of using platform or application monitoring and tuning, such as New Relic and AppInsight, and experience of mentoring or collaborative leadership
- The ability to understand, support, modify and maintain systems, artefacts, documentation and code developed by other engineering teams
